Replacing a retiring app with Microsoft Teams & Orchestry

When a regional grocery retailer's communications app was being liquidated, we moved them to Microsoft Teams — matching and exceeding the old feature set, with Orchestry for provisioning and governance and a heavy focus on adoption.

The challenge

A regional grocery retailer relied heavily on a third-party app for interorganizational communications. After the app changed hands and was being liquidated as a supported platform, they needed an alternative that matched and out-matched it — quickly — and looked to Microsoft Teams.

Our approach

Through in-depth discovery we mapped what the old app did, how it was used, and which Teams features covered those needs — while identifying the working personas and how best to prepare the user base for the change.

We led lifecycle and governance planning, introduced Orchestry for Teams provisioning and governance, and deployed Teams for each identified use case. Much of the project centered on end-user training, adoption, and organizational change management to ensure a satisfactory replacement.

Outcomes

  • In-depth discovery and feature-parity mapping for the replacement
  • Lifecycle and governance planning with technical solutioning
  • Heavy change-management, adoption planning, and training
